Once she had her first instrument at age of eight, she started to perform on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. The singer moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. The first charting record she had on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time, was in search for a singer for his show. Parton was hired in the year 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974, as her own albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at No. First time, in 1974.
