Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news site, is a television personality, author, and philanthropist. Originally from Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. A conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she went on to become the voice of Huffington Post. Arianna was able to attract numerous prominent contributors to post their views about politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the Governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes named her one of the "most powerful female" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as the president of their media company that also includes additional AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos who was a management and journalism consultant. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her life. From her early years, she demonstrated leadership skills which are still widely admired. When she was 16years old, she emigrated from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's colleges debating societies, and eventually was its first foreign female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After after graduation she was a critic columnist and television host. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy.
