Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, as well as the proprietor of the independently open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and relocated to England at the age of 16. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA of Economics. First foreign-born graduate to hold the position of president in the prestigious debate group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the position. When she graduated, she made her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice portal which gave critical opinions on the political scenario. Her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna gained fame in 2003 after she decided to contest for a non-partisan position for the California recall election to replace the Governor Davis. In addition, she directed a Detroit project that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes identified her as the most influential female in the media industry in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as in the 12th spot on Forbes' ranking. The Guardian also included her to the top 100 list of media for 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. In 2012, she became the head of the AOL media group. The group included several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Their parents are Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was an expert in management and a journalist. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was her bond with her mother that shaped her character. When she was a teen she displayed leadership qualities which she is still renowned for. When she was sixteen, she left America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she joined the debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Master's Degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, and columnist upon her graduation. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
